Berenberg expects the Eurozone economy to contract by 1.7 percent

German investment bank Berenberg predicted that the Eurozone economy, which contracted by 0.6 percent in the fourth quarter of 2020, will shrink 1.7 percent in the first quarter of 2021.

In the evaluation, "Strong gains in manufacturing and global trade continue to limit the effects of the measures applied against the coronavirus compared to the spring of 2020".

Berenberg also predicted that economic activity will recover with the bapar and compensate for the losses in the 4th quarter of 2020 and the first quarter of 2021, but also emphasized that the risks are downside due to the rapid spread of the variants of the virus in the Eurozone.
